Still a geo-geek


Alex sent me this Nat. Geographic pic - It's in Tanzania on the rift zone.. pretty kick ass huh?

awesome. i looked that one up in your book - it is a carbonate volcano. the carb. lava comes out dark black and is very fluid, hence the thin flows. it turns white in days to hours after cooling (oxidation). that's why the non-active part of it is white.
