End of the Semester

I am done with classes for the semester! I have 2 papers yet to finish (or start) but its a relief to have all the tests over and no more classes to go to.

Dave has beautiful pics up from his continuing adventures in South America. They're amazing.

I'm exhausted!

Damn Right I Did!

Fucking swim with 20-30 SHARKS today!!!

Yeah yeah.. I was with Sonnett and Graham in a big old jacques cousteau cage, but we were dealing with 20 mph trade chop on top of 10' swell - it was NUTS. We saw mostly sandbar shraks, but there was one big MF galapagos shark a few feet away from us eying the weird clumsy things inside. It's been almost 12 hours since I got off that boat but I'm still sloshing around like a pirate (instead of a land lubber).

So anyway, it was awesome and as soon as I get the pics from Sonnett (which might be never cause stupid Longs LOST them), I'll be posting some.

Babies

I finished 4 of my 5 final exams yesterday!!! I celebrated by giving my cousins Tom and Marcie a call (Marcie was my first acupuncturist) and I got a great surprise!

Marcie just had her second child Monday!! I have a new baby cousin named Aili (I-lee she'd get along here great) Isabelle after Marcie's grandmothers. So there in the pic are Marcie, 1st baby Tyler, and new baby Aili. Towheaded Finlander-French Canadian-Viking babies.. they're so cute!!

Last time I saw Tom and Marcie was at Ken's wedding - that was a great surprise too since neither of us knew the other was coming.

Other than that fun, I spent Saturday evening out
with DnA and Kalei in Kapiolani Park listening to Kokua Fest. It was a good show.

I do not have much desire to finish the 3 papers and read for my last final on Thursday. I need to get lots of things finished in very little time, but I just hate writing so much!! I need to stop making such a big deal out of it, I know, but it's difficult to change.

I will be going on the North Shore Shark adventure tomorrow so I'd better get to work!!

Herbs

So I woke up this morning (before light sometime) with a nasty sore throat. It sucked. I couldn't fall back asleep for a while (felt like hours, who knows) and all I could think about were all the things I was breathing in yesterday while tiling and mixing mortar and all that. Difficult to say whether the tiling, or the TB test I got on Monday, or anything else were involved, but whatever it is is still swelling my throat up. It's not hurting now - stopped about 10 or 11am, and I went to school and got a treatment and some tea to kick that wind-heat right out of my body.

AND! While I was at school, I got to pick up the herbs I ordered for myself and my parents to share.

As you can see, there's a lot. The bags are all 500 grams.. I got honeysuckle flowers, Chinese rose buds, crysanthemum flowers, jujubes, Goji berries, lotus seeds, dried tangerine peels, mountain yams, and ginseng root (in chinese... jin yin hua, mei gui hua, ju hua, da zao, gou qi zi, chen pi, shan yao, and ren shen).

I'm resisting the urge to bust them open and play until I have actual instructions on how I should be mixing them and until I have a proper place to store them (Dave will get a surprise when he gets home!).

Home Improvements

Today I learned how to tile a floor. It was not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be.. yesterday I got to play with paint stripper.. now I want a house to play with.

All Alone..

So Dave's off to tour the world again, and I've been sitting at my desk since getting back from the airport trying (pretty much unsuccessfully) to get some homework done. I paid the bills, finished making my tea, opened my book and then proceeded to get distracted every time I write a sentence. Maybe the cup and a half of coffee I had with breakfast is FINALLY kicking in or maybe I'm just floundering cause I can't go over and pester Dave instead of attacking the 4 suit spider solitare (which I just finally beat for the first time.. it only took 20 games - not all today!!) and eating my leftover ramen (it was soo delicious).

Also! I just found that my friend Kristin has a blog! She and her husband Jeff are living somewhere in Washington - it's much prettier than I was expecting!

bubbles

I'm feeling swamped. My parents left a few days ago after an excellent 3 week visit, school is in the last swings of the semester so everything is just getting piled on, I just started a new job, AND Dave is about to leave for a month Sunday.

Sooo, I thought I'd share this great Doonesbury strip to the left here cause I'm also annoyed at stupid people right now and for some reason this comic makes me feel better.
